Rain and snow can result in the buildup of hard water spots on your auto glass. Below are a few DIY ways to properly remove the pesky spots from the glass.
How To Remove Water Spots On Auto Glass
There are four proven cleaning methods for removing stubborn, hard water stains from your auto glass. Choose from one of the DIY methods below.
Cleaning Method 1. Use Water And Vinegar
- All the minerals in hard water are alkaline, meaning the acid featured in vinegar will neutralize them.
- Spray the auto glass with a solution containing equal parts water and white distilled vinegar.
- Saturate the areas with the most buildup as best you can.
- Let your solution sit for a couple minutes.
- While the solution sits, reapply the spray.
- Wet a rough towel with your solution and scrub the auto glass.
- Use a soft cloth or paper towel to properly dry the glass.
- If there are any water spots remaining, repeat this process.
Cleaning Method 2. Apply Baking Soda And Water
- A small amount of water and baking soda can be combined to make a paste.
- Apply this paste to a cloth and scrub the glass vigorously.
- Doing so will allow the abrasive granules of the baking soda to remove the hard water spots.
- Completely rinse the glass with water.
- Glass cleaner and a newspaper can be used to remove all residue and streaks from the glass.
Cleaning Method 3. Opt For Store-Bought Cleaning Products
- Commercial products can always be used to remove hard water spots from auto glass.
- Most hardware stores will carry products ideal for this purpose.
Cleaning Method 4. Fresh Lemon Juice
- Fresh lemon juice works better for this cleaning process compared to the bottled kind.
- Squeeze the juice directly into a spray bottle and use a towel to apply it to the glass.
- You may also rub the juice directly onto the glass.
- Use a soft cloth or paper towel to wipe away any juice that may be left behind.
- Use a spray of glass cleaner to complete the process.
- A newspaper can be used to wipe the cleaner away while keeping the glass streak-free.
