- “Key ID Incorrect” appears on the dash.
- The key does not work in general.
Use the following steps in order to replace the battery properly.
How To Change The Battery In A Nissan Key Fob
Prior to attempting to change the battery in your key fob, first check the owner’s manual or service guide. This is an important step before you choose to do any DIY task with your car.
The majority of Nissan models utilizing intelligent keys will require the following steps in order to change out the battery. For this task, you will need a new battery, small screwdriver, and a clean cloth.
Step 1. Remove The Mechanical Key
- Find the switch located on the back of the fob.
- Use this to remove the mechanical key from the intelligent key.
- Once removed, set the key aside in a safe spot.
Step 2. Open Your Key Fob Case
- Insert your small screwdriver into the cover’s slit, twisting it to separate the lower from the upper.
- To prevent scratches, you can wrap the screwdriver in a clean cloth.
Step 3. Find And Remove The Battery
- Look for the round battery in the case and remove it once found.
- Follow local regulations and laws to dispose of the old battery properly.
- Refrain from touching the electrical terminals in the key or the internal circuit.
Step 4. Replace Your Battery
- Reference the owner’s manual for the appropriate battery to use for the replacement.
- Hold the battery by its edges when placing it in the proper position.
- Touching the contact points can ultimately deplete its charge capacity.
- Make sure the positive sign (“+”) faces the bottom of the lower part of the case when replacing the battery.
Step 5. Close The Key Fob
- Securely and carefully close your key fob case.
- Always check the owner’s manual before completing this task.
- Test the key fob by pressing the buttons designed to lock and unlock the car.
